Wooden boards

Wooden boards used as construction-grade sawn timber have a minimum thickness of 40 millimetres and a minimum width of three times that thickness.

Boards vs. planks — the distinction

Thinner boards reach a maximum thickness of 40 millimetres with a minimum width of 80 millimetres. A board used to manufacture glued laminated timber may also be thicker than 40 mm. Planks (Bohlen) lie above this limit and are used structurally for higher load cases.
